The Rising Sun Hotel has a rich history of association with the Sydney Swans. The closest Hotel to the original home ground of the once South Melbourne Swans, has been known to all Melbourne swans supporters to be the place to go to see home games. The wave of red and white can be phenomenal on finals games and the atmosphere euphoric.

Swans supporters are at home in front of the big screens down at “The Riser” feasting on traditional pub fare and a few ales to wash it all down.

The venue consists of two levels to hold all the Swannie fans shoulder to shoulder cheering every goal scored.

Fans and members are the back bone of every AFL club and the Swannies or affectionately known as the “Bloods”, get down to the Rising Sun every game match to run raffles, raise money and overall support the club.

For 108 years the Rising sun hotel stood opposite the South Melbourne home ground. Fans watching the game, celebrating with comradery, the thrill of the win at the pub. Thankfully, this strong culture still continues today with Grandfathers, Fathers, Sons and Daughters celebrating like yesteryear.
